I decided to take a break, so I signed out of the Etsy shop I am currently building out and came here to give you all a sneak peek of what I have been up to in the studio. This is one of the new hand-dyed, hand-painted silk scarves that will soon be for sale on VictoriaBDesignShop. (The shop is pretty empty — I am still aiming for mid-October to be up and running.) There is so much to complete before I can open. For instance, I just spent several hours on Etsy, entering New York State sales tax percentages for all of the zip codes in the state into my shop database. No small task, trust me. Opening an Etsy store, as I am learning, is a ton of work — sometimes fulfilling, and often tedious. I spend as much time on the computer as I do in the studio. I am trying to stay in the moment — and in beginner’s mind. It’s just going to take the time it takes. I am making mistakes. I am having small victories. I am having frustrating days and inspiring days. It’s a process, and oh boy, I am deep in it! Any Etsy sellers or small craft business owners out there relate? I’d love to hear your experiences!
